This year’s Comic-Con seems to be falling short, or dare I say, already forgettable. SDCC is lacking in social media buzz and other coverage leading up to the event compared to years prior. It’s hard to know what to expect especially with big-time players like Warner Brothers, who will not have a Hall H panel this year. Hopefully, the lack of hype will lead to big surprises from the panels that will be there. Maybe Marvel will announce something newsworthy like the return of RDJ as Ironman (probably not) or the return of Chris Evans as Captain America (doubtful).

To build some hype for the penultimate nerd conference, we have created a list of the Top 5 things we are looking forward to at this year’s Comic-Con.

1 Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

Being a New Jersey native and longtime fan of Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse movies, this one tops the list. Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith will reprise their roles of Jay and Silent Bob to again travel to Hollywood and try to stop the filming of a Bluntman and Chronic Reboot movie.

Earlier this week, Smith has revealed a fake movie poster for the movie within a movie via his Twitter account and announced that he would be giving fans a sneak peek at the film during his Hall H panel.  This alone has us wanting to grab flights and overpriced event tickets just to check it out.

2 The Batwoman on CW

Fans of Arrowverse got their first look at Kate Kane/Batwoman back during the crossover event CW does each year with its DC shows. After the event, it was announced that Ruby Rose would be continuing her role and receiving a show of her own and joining the Arrowverse family.

The future of Arrowverse is a bit in limbo and Batwoman could save it.  The show that started it all, Arrow, will have a shortened season this year and will mark the end of the series. Since Oliver Queen will be giving up the Hood, could Kate Kane and her Cowl pick up where he left off? At the very least it will be interesting to see how she fits in.

The trailers, teasers, and promotional work for this series is lackluster at best.  We are hoping that the panel at SDCC will bring some more excitement for one of our favorite DC characters and renew the potential for the Arrowverse itself.

3 Marvel Games Panel

Marvel will be releasing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order this week and has at least one more game in the works, Square Enix’s Avengers Project.  There is much mystery surrounding the latter with only a teaser trailer being released thus far at E3.

After the release of the “Avengers Project” trailer, many fans were up in arms about the character design.  Will Marvel show some updated reworks since E3? Will we get a hint at more characters coming to the project? What other games does Marvel have up its sleeve? We hope these questions get answered.

4 Netflix’s Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Netflix has been working on a Dark Crystal prequel for some time now. Last year at New York Comic Con they announced to fans that it would be released this year and gave a small look at what is to come.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will bring back the puppetry and muppetry that Jim Henson was famous for creating. It will be exciting to see how the Dark Crystal team uses new technology with a huge puppet cast.

Honestly, we love the muppets and Jim Henson how could we not be excited for this?

5 A Conversation with the Russo Brothers

This is could be the second Marvel panel to make our list and is probably the more important of the two. The Russo Brothers have a lot of explaining to do and this is the panel they should be doing it in. The big question is will they talk about the MCU? Or will this be based on something completely different?

If MCU gets brought up, then there are a plethora of questions surrounding Avengers: ENDGAME and this is the panel where fans could get some answers. Like does jumping timelines create a replica of the person? Thanos jumped from 2014 to 2023 and thus creates a new timeline so does that negate the 2018 snap? Or because he jumps two different timelines are made in conjunction? One for the Thanos who jumped time, one for the one who remains (replica), and the one from Infinity War? Does the 2012 Loki who escaped with the Tesseract have his own timeline? Can he jump timelines since he is a god?

These are just a few of the many questions that need answering and I am sure this panel could go on for hours with the Russo’s trying to explain this crappy attempt at time travel.

That will do it for our list of what we can’t wait to see at Comic-Con, but we hope that there are more surprises in store to make this comic con a memorable one. What are your thoughts going into this year’s event? What are you most excited about? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter.
