TITANS Season 2 is over and there was a lot that happened over the course of this season. Let’s not waste any time and dive into some things we think are worth talking about in our TITANS Season 2 Wrap-Up. So if you have not finished this season, then you may not want to read any further.

NIGHTWING

Since the start of TITANS it was no secret that Dick Grayson would become the iconic DC her Nightwing. It finally happened this season, but was the build-up too long? The short answer is Yes.

Since Dick burned his Robin suit in Season 1 there was no doubt that Nightwing would become a part of the TITANS group. With all the news articles and coverage of Season 2, it was unanimous that Nightwing would be a part of the show and be debuted real “soon”. There were plenty of shots of filming where Nightwing was present, making fans think he would appear early on in this season. That was not the case, and Dick didn’t put on the suit until the season finale.

While the suit looks accurate as hell and the fight scene with Slade Wilson/Death Stroke was on point, it seemed that payoff didn’t live up to the anticipation fans have felt waiting for the payoff. It would have been nice to get a little more Nightwing action during the season instead of just a single episode.

STAR FIRE

Star Fire is a big part of the TITANS and this season she seemed the most distant from the team. She had her own agenda between Season 1 and Season 2 and her plotline took over the character for the entire season. In the finale, it appears her entire Season 2 plot was a setup for the Season 3 “Big Bad” Black Fire.

With Star Fire being distant and on her own for many episodes, it seemed like the writers didn’t know what to do with her character, or were more focused on creating a Season 3 plot instead of making the TITANS team feel, well, like a team.

Conner/Rose/Jericho

Season 2 introduced a few new characters into the universe with Conner, Rose, and Jericho. Conner/Superboy gets his Cadmus makings and storyline, which proved to be one of the more interesting parts of the season. Watching Conner escape from Cadmus and learning about Cadmus’ true objectives make them a big contender and thorn to TITANS in future episodes. It will be interesting to see how Lex Luthor and Cadmus fit in to the TITANS series in the future.

Rose and Jericho are sister and brother and the offspring of the TITANS biggest enemy, Slade Wilson/Death Stroke. It appeared early on that Rose was setting up for the iconic Judas Contract storyline, but appeared to be genuine to the TITANS in the end. While I am still not sold that the makings of the Judas Contract are still in the works, it was good to see they didn’t put that payoff so early in the series.

Jericho, on the other hand, is the reason that Slade and the TITANS become mortal enemies as Slade holds the TITANS responsible for killing his only son. While it was Slade who dealt the killing blow to Jericho, it was during a fight with Robin (Dick Grayson) that caused the teen to meet his untimely end.  Spoiler alert, Jericho isn’t dead but held captive in his father’s body as he possessed his father as he was dying.

Death Stroke

Speaking of Death Stroke, we couldn’t talk about Season 2 without talking about him. He was the big bad for the season and hit his end by the hand of his daughter Rose, and Nightwing during the early moments of the finale. I am fairly certain though, that Death Stroke is not dead and will continue to be a thorn in the side of the TITANS for seasons to come.

Death Stroke was the best character this season and now that he no longer has his son inside him, his body is all his and it will be great to see how the character develops in the future. In the end, you can’t have the TITANS without having Death Stroke pop up every once in a while to remind the group that he is still at large and will always be in the back of their minds.

Conclusion

While it looks like I didn’t enjoy much of season 2, in fact, the opposite is true. I thought this season was great, I just wish we got more Death Stroke and Nightwing battles. I am hoping that we see more of Slade and Dick going at it in future episodes and with the news that Season 3 is greenlit, it looks like we just might. So here is looking forward to seeing how the next season plays out!
