That’s right, as previously speculated, that Twilight guy will be your next Batman.  The iconic DC hero will be played by none other than Robert Pattinson.  It appears that the casting call was a close one as Warner Bros. had both, the aforementioned Pattinson, and Nicholas Hoult from X-Men: Days of Future Past do a screen test of the Caped Crusader.  Pattinson is believed to have been better liked by the movies Director Matt Reeves and has thus landed the role.  This should all be set in stone, as long as the current negotiations go off without a hitch.

Pattinson will be taking the cowl from Ben Affleck, who played the hero in the previous movies Batman vs Superman and Justice League before walking away from the role. Affleck was set to write, direct, and star in this next iteration of Batman but since his departure, he will not be involved in the project at all.  With Affleck out of the picture, Matt Reeves will be taking over the writing and directing of the film.  Reeves is known for his work on the lastest two Planet of the Apes movies and Cloverfield.

While mixed reviews are in about Pattinson taking over the role, fans must remember that Heath Ledger as the Joker in Chris’ Nolans Dark Knight Returns was also panned prior to the movie’s release. Ledger, post mortem, went on to win an Oscar for his work and it could be possible that Pattinson can bring justice to one of DC’s major heroes.  With no release date, script, or any other such information available, we will all have to wait to see how his performance pans out.
