Nora Allen is the absolute worst Flash character to ever grace the screen. Nora is the future daughter of Barry and Iris. She has traveled back in time to help her father, (again) creating problems with the timeline. As the daughter of Barry Allen, she has inherited the Speed Force.

This new Speedster, XS, creates more problems than she actually solves.  Her superhero name came from her doing everything in “excess”. Her excessive and impulsive behavior makes the show more predictable than usual.  Every episode seems to have her make the initial conflict worse rather than better due to her impulsiveness.

This plot point gets old very fast.  After a few episodes, it feels like lazy writing.  You can reasonably predict at what minute everything is going to go down.  I have found myself starting an episode on demand and watching on double speed or quicker just to get to the end.  Even by doing this, I missed practically nothing because it’s the same format as the previous episode.

While Nora or XS is a terrible character and appears to contribute or cause of the laziness of the writers, it does not diminish the performance of Jessica Parker Kennedy.  Jessica is the actress who plays Nora. She does a wonderful job at working with the character, but the show could utilize her better. She definitely has the chops to excel. Her work in Black Sails and The Secret Circle showed off her skills better than this season of Flash.

In the end, Jessica Parker Kennedy does well with the part she was given, but the character needs to go. This season of the show will hopefully have Barry Allen and Iris break up or have the latter killed off just so XS never exists in this CW universe. If not, here is hoping Barry screws up the timeline one more time just to get rid of her. Flash needs to do something dark or the cancellation of this show is most likely inevitable after this season.
