Fans of the tabletop RPG Vampire: the Masquerade or the old school 90’s game Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines will be happy to know a follow up of the latter has been announced and some details about the game have been revealed. Paradox and Hard Suit Labs have taken to twitch grace fans with some new information on this much-anticipated sequel.

The new game will take place in Seattle, which is now overrun by the Camarilla and will somewhat follow the version 5 rule set. As most RPGs, the rule set is more like guidelines and some “home” rules will be added.  Players will start as newly embraced thinblood, and be able to choose from 1 of 3 abilities.  As a thinblood, the character isn’t accepted by most vampires but is still feared by humans. This leaves the player without a clan to start and to have to make their way around pretty much on their own. Although, clanless the thinblood does get some cool abilities:

Chiropterans

  • Bats. Lots of Bats.
  • Glide makes your bones hollow like a bird, so you can temporarily float, get up to hard to reach places and surprise people by swooping down.
  • Bat Swarm lets you summon a swarm of bats that can attack and disable enemies. At its full potential, a wall of bats will protect the character.

Mentalism

  • Telekinesis.
  • Pull allows you to grab objects and weapons with your mind.
  • Levitate will all the player to suspend a person in the air, and eventually more than one. Maxed out, you’ll be able to levitate everyone and everything in a whole area.

Nebulation

  •  Mist.
  • Using Mist Shroud summons a cloud of mist that suppresses footsteps and reduces visibility, allowing you to sneak around. The character can change into mist, which will help you get around and choke your enemies.
  • Envelop creates a vortex of mist that surrounds, blinds and chokes every enemy it touches.

As for finding a clan, the announcement made clear that 5 clans would be available but which clans were not given.  Fans will have to wait a little longer on that information. The game set to be released Q1 of 2020.

For those unfamiliar with Vampire the Masquerade, it started as a tabletop RPG (like Dungeons and Dragons) based around Vampires that created their own society.  The vampires belong to clans and these clans form the Camarilla.  The Camarilla focuses on keeping order in the vampire world and to keep themselves hidden from the public eye (known as the masquerade). In the ’90s a video game was created based on the tabletop version known as Bloodlines. More information can be found by clicking the links earlier in this article.
