Here we are a little over two months away from another Capcom’s Resident Evil remake. I, for one, have been a hardcore fan since the initial game released almost 24 years ago (I was only 7 years old at the time of Resident Evils release) am excited!
Resident Evil follows the story of the evil Umbrella Corporation. The story is about how they planned to hide that they had infected a town named Raccoon City and the surrounding Arklay Mountains with a virus that reanimated the dead. It’s a game about zombies, mutations and evil corporations.
The first game had a huge fan following which sparked two sequels. Resident Evil 2 which tells the story about how this virus infected Raccoon City. Resident Evil 2 was remade for current generation consoles and released last year. The game released to high expectations and it delivered; exceeding expectations. I myself spent hours playing and beating the game on all difficulties. I loved it and couldn’t have asked for better. Resident Evil 2 is definitely my favorite game of the long series.
We are now getting a Resident Evil 3. The game came out in 1999 and was released with the subtitle Nemesis. This game is getting the same treatment and will continue to be called Nemesis. The character, Nemesis, is getting an upgrade in weapons and looks. In this go-around, he’s getting a mask and a flame thrower! Just seeing the make over shows that this game is going to be awesome.
We can’t leave Jill Valentine out, as she is also getting an upgrade in looks. With the remake last year of part 2 they did change a few small things that take place in the game to make them more challenging so hopefully that’s the case here. Also from what I’ve seen Jill is going to have Carlos looking after her. He to has had an overhaul in looks. These changes are going to be good for the game overall.
What I am hoping for is more interaction than the choice gameplay from 1999 with the Nemesis. It would be great if it is more like the way it was with Mr. X and the open fighting that you had in part 2. Nemesis, of course, will be tougher and take more of your ammo and healing items. I expect this game to be difficult even on the lowest setting.
If you recall, back in the 1999 version Nemesis would show up and you would either run or fight. Some interactions you could do, would be to push him off of a high ledge or a clock tower. It kind of ruins the threat of the character to be this big bad that was supposed to stop the Stars team. I hope that will change with this game as it appears to just from the trailers alone.
I hope to see a well-driven story. The original had a good story with Jill making her last escape from Raccoon City. Which she does if you get the good ending right before the city is demolished by a nuclear warhead. I can’t really can’t say any bad things about the original Resident Evil 3 because of how great it was. while It felt like a continuation of part 2 it also had its own great story.
I hope this remake picks up on that and drives it home so we can have a good trilogy of remakes at least. Part one was “remastered” for Game Cube and then remastered again for Ps4, but I consider it a remake because it does change the canon of the entire series from the original!
Again I don’t have a lot of information on the game I just wanted to discuss how I felt about it and explain the story as best I could. I can’t wait until the release date which isĀ April 3rd, 2020!
