Last night on NBC the cast of Parks and Rec reprised their roles for a good cause during the Covid19 crisis. They joined together with the likes of State Farm and Subaru to raise money for relief efforts due to Covid19.

If you’re a fan of the show you will remember it last aired in 2015 with the group from Pawnee skipping ahead 3 years to 2017 and showing a glimpse of their future. When the show ended there was a second-time jump that showed what happened to each character.

Now we get to catch up with them in again but this time in present-day 2020 to find out how this Covid 19 pandemic is affecting their lives. This was a great idea to bring the original cast back together. They really mesh well even after being away from the roles for almost 5 years. The thing I enjoyed most is they just jump right back into it with all the highlights of each character.

I know a lot of people are against this type of reunion for a fan favorite but I support this. It gives us a look at some favorite characters that haven’t been on TV in a while.  I’ve been watching the show on Netflix but still it’s always nice to find out new things that characters might be doing on shows.

I feel like this is an opportunity for NBC to gear the interest in Parks and Rec and maybe possibly have a small series run on their new streaming service Peacock. I mean why not? The show was great and the workplace shows are relatable.

My final thought is NBC used this as a way to get viewers for a fundraiser event. During a crisis like we are going through that is all well and good. What I saw, however, is a show that I enjoy being brought back for a special episode and not missing a beat. Thank you to all of the actors from Parks and Rec and NBC for making this happen even if it’s just for the one episode.

Parks and Rec aired from 2009 up to February 2015. The show starred Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Aziz Ansari, Retta, Jim O’Neil, Rob Lowe, and Rashida Jones. All of these actors appeared in this special episode and even though it’s 5 years from the last episode you couldn’t really tell it. Again it was great to see the Pawnee group and what they have been up to lately!
