With the lack of information from Blizzard on this year’s Overwatch Halloween’s Event, could it be a sign that it isn’t going to be dropping? All the rumors and theories surrounding the Internet pointed at it launching this week and that still hasn’t happened. Other sites like, inverse, even tried to break down what characters might be getting skins this year. With all the hype surrounding it, why haven’t we heard any official news?
It was widely speculated that the event would be dropping on October 8th, as historically Blizzard drops the events and patches on Tuesdays. Last night, I logged in to the Blizzard app to see if there were any updates or news regarding the event and was surprised to find nothing changed. I even launched Overwatch to see if maybe I got an update when I wasn’t around but again, nothing was different.
With the lack of communication from Blizzard on this event, it is my guess that there will be no event this year. With Blizzcon on the horizon (November 1 – November 3), it is my theory that they are holding off to release something big. Again this is all speculation, but could it be that players will be getting a brand new game mode? maybe a story mode? Maybe a whole new Overwatch? If players don’t receive some news about the Halloween event soon, then more speculations on why it’s canceled and what’s coming are bound to on the horizon.
If we go another week without an update about this event, I am all but sure we will have our first year without it. It will be sad as this is absolutely my favorite time of year and my favorite Overwatch event. The Halloween season won’t be the same without it and I may have to switch to playing the Borderlands 3 event in hopes that Junkenstein’s Revenge will be back next year.

UPDATE: Blizzard has announced that the Halloween Terror event will be taking place and starting this week.
