Overwatch turns 3 and that means the 3rd Anniversary event for Blizzard’s hit game Overwatch is upon us. Each year since the games release date, Blizzard has given it’s Overwatch fans some fun events to enjoy during different seasons of the year. In the October time frame, it’s Halloween Terror, then Winter Wonderland in December, followed by Chinese New Year event, then Archives, and finally Anniversary.
Each event has its own flare and different arcade mode to play and during the Anniversary event, it combines them all for fans to enjoy a second time during the year. Along with re-releasing game modes, Blizzard also releases new items for fans to collect. This year is no different as it is confirmed at least 9 new skins will be available, two of which were already shown. Starting later today, Tuesday, May 21st, the D.VA and Winston skins along with all the other new and past items will be hidden inside the elusive loot boxes until the events conclusion. Some new things players can expect from this year’s event include:
- D.VA Skin
- Winston Skin
- Total of Six Legendary skins
- Total of Three Epic skins
- Dance Emotes for:
- Baptiste
- Ashe
- Hammond
Previous event items will also be available as well. So anyone who missed them before or didn’t have enough in-game currency at the time will be given the chance retrieve them again.
Along with the new items for its current players, Blizzard is opening Overwatch up for a free trial for new players to get their hands on the game with hopes they will purchase the game and continue playing. This means new meat for veteran players to whoop on in arcade mode!
The anniversary event is one of the highlights in the overall Overwatch year. While the other game modes offer Junkenstein full time or Lucio ball, all those and the others are available to play in this event. That means one can jump from Mei’s Snowball Fight or Yeti hunt and then switch over to one of the archive event modes depending on what available on the given day as it changes daily].
I am one who looks forward to this event every year just so I can get a chance to play all the game modes.
